HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 cc122-3W
39. Mr. Iremonger

asked the Minister of Labour what was the total cost of establishing the Ministry of Labour employment exchange at Holborn; what deficit is estimated to be met on its first year of operation; and how many placements where appointments lasted for at least 10 weeks are the direct result of introductions so far effected by the Holborn Employment Exchange.

Mr. Gunter

The cost of fitting out this office was about £6,700. The annual cost for staff and overheads of all kinds for this office is about £7,000 per annum and during the first six months of its operation, 506 placings were made. All our placing services are free to employers and workers alike. I have no information about how long the people placed stayed in their new jobs.
