asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance what increase or decrease in staff there has been in the Departments under her control since 16th October, 1964; and what increase or decrease she anticipates in the period up to 15th October, 1965.
§ Miss Herbison
The staff employed by the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance has decreased by about 220 since October, 1964. It is estimated that by October, 1965, the staff will have increased by about 425 over the position a year before. The hon. Member may also like to have similar information for24W the staff of the National Assistance Board. The numbers in that Department have increased by about 380 since October, 1964, and by October, 1965, there may be a further increase of 450.
