§ Mr. Bishopasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will take steps to allow part-time married women doctors employed by local authorities to be covered for superannuation in the same way as those employed under the National Health Service.
§ Mr. CrossmanLocal authorities already have power to bring their part-time employees into their superannuation schemes where they think it appropriate to do so. These part-time employees, however, cannot claim superannuation as of right. To concede this right would require a basic change in existing legislation. I shall be writing to my hon. Friend about the particular case in which he is interested.
