Mr. Malcolm MacPherson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many persons were arrested in Glasgow on 1st January, 1964, and charged with breach of the peace; on what dates these charges were disposed of; and how many such cases were disposed of on each date;

(2) how many of the persons arrested in Glasgow on 1st January, 1964, and charged with breach of the peace were allowed bail; and on what dates this occurred.

Sixty-three persons were arrested in Glasgow on 1st January, 1964, and charged with breach of the peace. Of these 25 were allowed bail—18 on 1st January, one on 2nd January, five on 6th January and one on 17th January.
