The Earl of Dalkeithasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many persons had incomes of less than £400 and between £1,000 and £1,500 in 1949 and 1963, respectively.
§ Mr. GreenI would refer my hon. Friend to the National Income Blue Books for 1960 and 1963, which show the following figures. In 1949 there were about 20 million incomes between £50 and £400 and 400,000 between £1,000 and £1,500, compared with about 7¾ million and about 4¼ million respectively in 1962; figures for 1963 will not be available until next August.
