HL Deb 05 May 1964 vol 257 cc1227-8WA
LORD HOBSON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

The number of power failures in the London Electricity Board's distribu- tion area since January 1, 1964, to the nearest convenient date and the duration of the longest and shortest failure.

LORD DERWENT

There were 67 failures on the transmission system and some four hundred minor failures on the distribution system, from January 1, to April 23. The longest was for 12 hours 25 minutes; this was quite exceptional and affected only one consumer: the shortest was for 3 minutes. The Board told my right honourable friend that the availability of supplies during the period has been over 99.9 per cent.
