Russellasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that the white lines marking the limits of parking spaces are not easily seen from the driving seats of most motor cars; and if he will make it a condition of his approval for parking meter schemes that the position of the meters should be standardised in relation to the white lines so that drivers can use them as a guide when parking parallel to the kerb.
§ Mr. MarplesI am not aware of any widespread difficulty in this respect. A single meter is normally placed 4 or 5 ft. from the forward end of a parking bay; double meters are always placed at the line where two bays join.
