§ Mr. MarplesThere are eleven licensing authorities. Their offices are situated as follows:

- South Eastern Traffic Area—Eastbourne.

- Yorkshire Traffic Area—Leeds.
- West Midland Traffic Area—Birmingham.
- Eastern Traffic Area—Cambridge.
- Western Traffic Area—Bristol.
- Metropolitan Traffic Area—London, W.1.
There is also a deputy licensing authority for northern Scotland with an office in Aberdeen.
Licensing authorities sit at their own offices and at convenient centres throughout their areas.
§ Mr. Delargyasked the Minister of Transport what is the cost to his Department of road-haulage licensing authorities, including the salaries of staff, rent, lighting, heating, cleaning and upkeep of premises, correspondence and other incidental expenses.
§ Mr. MarplesThere is no net cost. The total administrative costs of the licensing authorities, including associated costs of enforcement, were £940,000 in 1962–63, but this was offset by revenue of like amount from fees charged for carriers' licences.
§ Mr. Delargyasked the Minister of Transport what rights of appeal against a decision of a road-haulage licensing authority are open to an applicant.
§ Mr. MarplesApplicants have rights of appeal, under Part IV of the Road Traffic Act, 1960, to the Road Haulage Appeals Division of the Transport Tribunal.
