§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThe Government have taken a series of Measures including increases in social benefits and public service pensions designed to help those living on small fixed incomes. The latest of these is the proposal which my right hon. Friend is making this afternoon to increase the age exemption from Income Tax. We shall continue from time to time to make further improvements. But as the hon. Lady knows, the only lasting solution to the problems of inflation lies in an incomes policy designed to keep the rise in money incomes in line with productivity.
