§ Mrs. ThatcherExpenditure on unemployment benefit in Great Britain in 1961–62 was about £36¼ million, and in 1962–63 nearly £64½ million. The increase in expenditure in Scotland was rather under 14 per cent. of the increase in the country as a whole.
