§ Mr. Kershawasked the Minister of Public Building and Works what work his Department is doing at the British Polaris base.
§ Mr. RipponThe Ministry is responsible for building the base which, it was announced a year ago, would be at Faslane, with an associated armament depot at Coulport. Since then detailed plan-174W ning of all the buildings and facilities required has been going on.
The most urgent requirement is the Royal Naval Polaris School. Construction began last December and should be completed by August, 1965. A contract for the armament depot has just been let and it is hoped shortly to let further major contracts for a new jetty at Faslane, the diversion of the main road in that area, and the ratings' married quarters at Helensburgh.
