§ Sir M. Galpernasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that it is the practice of the Electricity Boards in Scotland to hold the consumer responsible for any loss sustained by the Boards through the robbing of their prepayment meters by a third party, whereas the Gas Board does not do so; and if he will give them a general direction, in the public interest, to discontinue the practice.
§ Mr. NobleI am confident that the Scottish Electricity Boards deal reasonably and sympathetically with these cases and that this is a matter which is best left to their discretion. Any consumer who feels he has been harshly treated by the Board can place his complaint before the Consultative Council.
