Mr. Awberyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will introduce legislation to make it obligatory on all manufacturers of canned food to place on the tins in a conspicuous place the date on which the food was placed in the containers and the date by which it would be safe for the public to consume it.
§ Mr. Scott-HopkinsThis matter is being examined by the Food Standards Committee in its current review of the labelling of food. My right hon. Friend will consider it in the light of the Report and of any comments made to him when the Report has been published.
