HC Deb 04 June 1964 vol 695 c200W
65. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Transport if he will introduce legislation to make it illegal for vendors of ice-cream to sell confectionery from motor-vehicles within 200 yards of school gates, without written permission to do so from the local education authority after consideration has been given to road safety factors.

Mr. Marples

It is already illegal for ice-cream vans to be parked where they would cause danger by obstruction or where they contravene statutory waiting restrictions. I do not think additional legislation of the sort proposed is necessary.
