Mr. Duffyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many vacancies for teachers in primary schools in the West Riding of Yorkshire are expected at the end of this term, how many are expected to persist until September, how many part-time teachers are employed, and how many primary schools are experiencing a 50 per cent. turnover of staff in less than five years.
§ Mr. HoggThe West Riding Authority informs me that at the end of the summer term there were 344 vacancies on its present staffing establishment for the primary schools, 258 of which are expected to persist in September. It was then employing 514 part-time teachers in its primary schools. Five hundred and eight of these schools have experienced a 50 per cent. turnover of staff in less than five years.
