§ Mr. Kitsonasked the Postmaster-General how many private houses were connected with telephones in the North Riding of Yorkshire in the years 1945, 1951, and 1964, respectively.
§ Mr. MawbyI am sorry that information is not available for 1945, but in March 1946 and March 1951 there were, respectively, 15,208 and 22,554 telephones connected to the exchanges serving the North Riding of Yorkshire. It is no longer possible to say how many of these were in private houses. The comparable figure now is 43,179, of which 23,076 are in private houses.
