§ Mr. Gardnerasked the Minister of Transport if he will state his intentions about the start of work on, and the proposed route of, the North Orbital Road in order to relieve the present congestion on the Ingrave Road, Brentwood, caused by traffic using the Purfleet-Dartford Tunnel.
§ Mr. MarplesAs soon as possible after the results of a route survey are known I will initiate statutory procedures fixing the line for that part of the North Orbital Road that will relieve Ingrave Road of much of its through traffic.
It is too soon to say when the new road is likely to be constructed. But the possibilities of helping traffic in Ingrave Road itself will be clearer when the results of a recent traffic survey are also known.
