§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government will take steps to provide economic aid to Vietnam.
§ Mr. MathewYes. We intend to make a grant of £50,000 for the purchase of road-building machinery, which will be used for making secondary roads in the provinces of Vietnam, together with one of £6,000 for the purchase of diesel engines for fishing vessels being constructed under the auspices of the Government of Vietnam. Parliament will in due course be asked to vote these amounts by means of a Supplementary Estimate. In the meantime, an advance will be obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund as required.
