§ Mr. Braine1865; over £150,000 since 1948; the hospital meets part of the need of Salford, Worsley, Irlam, Stretford, Eccles, Swinton and Pendlebury but services are also provided by Hope Hospital, by hospitals in the West Manchester Group and by the United Manchester Hospitals; Hope Hospital is being redeveloped to provide a modern hospital; a new hospital is planned later to replace the Royal Hospital.
