§ Mr. McBrideasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs, if he will give a preliminary estimate of the grant which will be received by Swansea Borough Council in terms of the provisions of the Rating (Interim Relief) Bill.
§ Sir K. JosephI cannot estimate how much any local authority will receive in total as a result of the Bill, because this will depend in part on the use which they make of their powers to remit rates on grounds of hardship.
25WA preliminary estimate of the grant payable to the Council under Clause 1 of the Bill is £13,540. This figure is based on 1961 data and is subject to correction in the light of later information.
