HC Deb 27 February 1964 vol 690 c115W
Commander Courtney

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what Royal Navy air stations are in commission in the United Kingdom; and which of these are open for civil as well as for military use.

Mr. Hay

Royal Naval air stations in commission in the United Kingdom are Lossiemouth, Yeovilton, Brawdy, Culdrose, Portland, Lee-on-Solent and Arbroath.

With the limitation that Portland can accept helicopters only, each station may be used by British civil aircraft in emergency or distress. In addition they may be used for particular civil flights at the discretion of the commanding officer; and for civil scheduled services at the discretion of the Admiralty.
