§ Mr. G. Elfed Daviesasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will give a preliminary estimate of the grant which will be received by each receiving local authority in Wales in terms of the provisions of he Rating (Interim Relief) Bill.
§ Sir K. JosephI cannot estimate how much any local authority will receive in total as a result of the Bill, because this will depend in part on the use which they make of their powers to remit rates on grounds of hardship.
Following are preliminary estimates of the amounts which will be payable under Clause 1 of the Bill to rating authorities in Wales and Monmouth. The figures are based on 1961 data and are subject to correction in the light of later information.
