HC Deb 21 February 1964 vol 689 cc253-4W
Commander Kerans

asked the Postmaster-General how many telephone kiosks were damaged by vandals in England and Wales in 1963; and what was the cost to the taxpayer.

Mr. Bevins

I am sorry that this information is not available in the precise form asked for. In 1963 there were nearly 55,000 cases of damage in England and Wales which cost about £64,000 to put right. This cost has to be borne by telephone users generally.

Commander Kerans

asked the Postmaster-General how many prosecutions were successfully undertaken in cases of vandalism to telephone kiosks in 1963.

Mr. Bevins

Three hundred and sixty-two.
