Docks and Harbours (Capital Expenditure)

Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Transport how much capital expenditure has been authorised for the improvement of docks and harbours during 1964 and 1965; and how this compares with expenditure in 1963.

Mr. Marples

The British Transport Docks Board has been authorised to invest £5.3 million in 1963 and £8.1 million in 1964. I understand that the figures for the remainder of the docks industry an, approximately £13.6 million and £15.5 million in 1963 and 1964 respectively.

The figures for 1965 are not yet available.
