HC Deb 04 February 1964 vol 688 c129W
48. Sir H. Kerr

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action he has taken on the representations made to him about the need for increased financial assistance to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Mr. Green

This is a matter for the Arts Council. However, I understand that the Council has now found it possible to offer the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company for the next two years grants on a scale which in the Council's view should enable the company to maintain its activities both in London and in Stratford-upon-Avon.
