HC Deb 04 February 1964 vol 688 cc133-4W
62. Sir J. Eden

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what arrangements he is making to include representatives of the National Federation of Builders' and Plumbers' Merchants in the formal consultations he is holding to consider the detailed plans for the establishment of a National Building Agency.

Mr. Rippon

I met representatives of the National Federation yesterday.

I gave them an assurance that the National Building Agency would not itself place orders or stock components or building materials. In order to encourage the greater standardisation of components, the Agency would encourage clients to place their orders in the most economical way. The actual supply of the components ordered might well be done most economically through the traditional channels of distribution.
