Morrisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the book value of those parts of the iron and steel industry originally vested in the Iron and Steel Holding and Realisation Agency; and what is the current book value of assets and prior charges still held by the Iron and Steel Holding and 130W Realisation Agency, and of loans provided to their former and present subsidiaries.
§ Mr. MaudlingThe book value to the Iron and Steel Holding and Realisation Agency of its investments and obligations on 13th July, 1953, was £364.3 million. The corresponding figure on 1st January, 1964, was £131.3 million. The latter figure relates entirely to shares in, and loans to, Richard Thomas & Bald-wins Ltd. and excludes two fixed interest stocks which are repayable in the course of 1964 with a redemption value of £18.1 million.
