§ Mr. Malcolm MacMillanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the Highland Panel report on land use is to be published; and what action he proposes to take on the report.
§ Mr. RossThe Report on land use which the Highland Panel has submitted to me is being published today. I welcome this Report and I am grateful to the Panel for its comprehensive investigation. I shall give careful consideration to the important recommendations made in the report. Some of these are already being implemented, others are being discussed with authorities concerned—including the Crofters Commission—while others would require legislative action. The Report is, of course, relevant to the Scottish Development Group's current study of the Highland area, and to the work of the Highland Development Board which I am proposing to appoint.
