§ Mr. Costainasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the cost of increasing the personal Income Tax allowance for a single person from £200 to £300 per annum, and for a married person from £320 to £420 per annum.
§ Mr. MacDermotAt 1964–65 rates of tax the cost is £515 million in a full year (£410 million in the first year); at 1965–66 rates the full year is £530 million (£425 million in the first year).
