HC Deb 08 December 1964 vol 703 c158W
Mr. E. L. Mallalieu

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what aid Her Majesty's Government will make available to Trinidad.

Mrs. Castle

The Government have agreed to make a Commonwealth Assistance loan of £1.2 million to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. This will be used for the purchase of British buses (which will be delivered "completely knocked down" and assembled in Trinidad) and of garage equipment.

The loan will be made under Section 3 of the Export Guarantees Act, 1949 (as amended) and repayable over twenty-five years with a grace period of five years in respect of capital repayment.
