Friend is in correspondence with the Resident Commissioner about the extension, by Order in Council, of the terms of the Merchant Shipping (Liability of Shipowners and Others) Act 1958 to the legal system of the New Hebrides in so far as British nationals are concerned. As he informed the hon. and learned Gentleman on 9th November, the French Government is being asked to what112W extent it is giving effect to the provisions of the Convention in respect of French nationals.
