§ Mr. Clive Bossomasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of traffic wardens and meter attendants employed in the City of London and the Metropolitan Police district on 1st April, 1964; and what was the cost of their annual remuneration.
§ Mr. WoodhouseOn 1st April, 1964, 451 traffic wardens were employed in the Metropolitan Police District at an estimated annual cost of £331,000. I understand that on that date 61 traffic wardens were employed in the City of London at an estimated annual cost of £46,000. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport informs me that local authorities in the London area were then employing 88 meter attendants at an estimated annual cost of about £70,000.
