§ Mr. Benceasked the Minister of Labour what was the number of disabled persons on the employment roll of the Remploy factory in the years 1951 to 1963, which was situated in Dalmuir, but recently transferred to Anniesland in Glasgow; and to what extent the new factory will increase opportunities for the employment of disabled and industrially-injured persons.
§ Mr. WhitelawThe number of severely disabled persons employed in April of each year was as follows:
1951 39 1958 26 1952 41 1959 26 1953 37 1960 27 1954 36 1961 25 1955 35 1962 33 1956 28 1963 34 1957 27 The recent change in trade and premises should enable the factory ultimately to employ up to 100 severely disabled workers and it is Remploy's intention to build the labour force up to this figure as quickly as they can. As a first step eleven more people are being engaged in the next few weeks.
