HC Deb 21 April 1964 vol 693 c153W
Mr. Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations and the Colonies what reply is being sent to the United Nations about the request for British police to be sent to Cyprus.

Mr. Sandys

We have informed the Secretary-General that although we wish to give the United Nations all possible support, we have, after considering all circumstances, come to the conclusion that it would not be appropriate for Britain to send police in addition to her military contingent.
