§ 42. Mr. Hannanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the need for school facilities for maladjusted children, and that many with an intelligence quotient of over 70, are put into classes for the mentally handicapped where they hinder and disrupt their progress; and if he will consult the local authorities with a view to providing appropriate accommodation for such children.
Mr. CampbellA Working Party is at present considering the question of the ascertainment of children in need of special educational treatment because of maladjustment, and when its report is available my right hon. Friend hopes 63W to be able to give guidance to education authorities in this matter. In the meantime my right hon. Friend would be glad to have any evidence the hon. Member has on the practice to which he refers.
