§ Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development if he is aware that the proposed Channel Tunnel will accentuate the concentration of international trade between Britain and the continent of Europe in the south of Britain at the expense of the North and Midlands and Scotland; and what plans he has for solving this problem.
§ Mr. HeathI would refer the hon. Member to paragraph 23 of the White Paper on South-East England (Cmnd. 2308) published last month which sets out the Government's considered view on this matter.
