§ Mr. Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action Her Majesty's Government are taking to implement the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations on 16th December, 1963, for which the United Kingdom delegate voted, inviting member-states to contribute generously to the relief and assistance to the families of all persons persecuted by the Government of the Republic of South Africa for their opposition to the policies of apartheid.
§ Mr. P. ThomasAs we explained at the time the resolution was passed, we feel that initiatives of this kind are best left to private individuals and to nongovernmental organisations. We agree with the Secretary-General's views as expressed in his statement of 16th December.
