asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will give the latest available figures by grades of the total staff in British universities for the present academic year 1962–63;

(2) if he will give by grades the number of staff in British universities for the academic year 1961–62.

The latest available figures by grades of the number of fulltime staff employed in teaching departments of British universities for the academic year 1961–62 and the autumn term of 1962–63, are as follows:
