§ Mr. Owenasked the Minister of Labour what steps Her Majesty's Government are taking to implement Recommendation No. 116 of the International Labour Convention, 1962, for a progressive reduction of the hours of work to a 40-hour week as a desirable social standard.
§ Mr. HareAs stated in the White Paper (Cmnd. 1993) issued last month, the Government do not accept this Recommendation because a provision in it requires action inconsistent with the normal methods of determining conditions of employment in this country.
