§ Mr. Wilkinsasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to complaints of doctors on the staff of Bristol Royal Infirmary regarding deterioration in the standard of meals served to them since last autumn, and about the food supplied to patients; to what extent this is due to the fact that the finances of the hospital are in deficit, and that economies have been made in this and other departments; and if he will immediately enable more money to be made available to this hospital in order that food for patients and the medical and nursing staff may be of adequate quality.
§ Mr. BraineI understand that these complaints relate only to meals served to medical staff; this hospital's expenditure on catering is exceptionally high; it is for the board to decide how to deploy the additional purchasing power which they will have in 1963–64.
