HC Deb 25 March 1963 vol 674 c121W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what civil and Admiralty work, respectively, has been taken in hand or is planned for Malta dockyard since the dispossession of Messrs. Bailey (Malta) Limited.

Mr. Sandys Work

is being carried out on Admiralty ships based in Malta and, as I said on 14th February, the First Lord proposes to send H.M.S. "Troubridge" to Malta shortly for a major refit, subject to satisfactory contract arrangements. There was no commercial work in hand when the Council took over, because of the union's ban on overtime. The ban has now been lifted, commercial work has been resumed and the Council is doing all it can to increase the volume.
