§ 98. Mr. A. Hendersonasked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science what report he has received from his scientific advisers with regard to increases in radioactive fallout above the Atlantic Ocean; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. Denzil FreethThe amount of fallout activity in the air and deposited on the ground in the United Kingdom shows a seasonal fluctuation which usually200W reaches a peak in the late spring and early summer. There are indications that radioactivity above the Atlantic Ocean has recently increased, probably in accordance with the seasonal fluctuation which is likely to be manifested later in this country. I note that B.O.A.C. have stated that the amount of radioactivity they have measured is still infinitesimally small and that there is no danger to passengers, crew or ground staff.
