§ Mr. Denzil FreethIn Government Research Establishments there has been a steady overall increase in posts for many years and this trend is likely to continue. The hon. Member will also recollect that the Government have recently made available an annual sum of £44,000 to the Royal Society for five new research professorships. University and industrial appointments generally are not within my noble Friend's responsibility.
