59. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Minister of Transport if, in view of the urgent need to devise a means of preventing multiple accidents on motorways, he will take steps to ensure that the experiment with remotely controlled illuminated warning signs on the M.5 will be in operation by this winter.
§ Mr. MarplesI am anxious to get this equipment installed as soon as possible. As I told my hon. Friend in reply to his Question on 19th June, because of its complexity, the design is taking longer than expected and I do not expect to have the warning system in operation before next spring.
