§ 73. Mr. Gardnerasked the Minister of Transport what steps are being taken to abolish the use of warning bells at level crossings and to substitute for them warning lights during the hours of darkness, thereby avoiding unnecessary disturbance of the sleep of people in the neighbourhood.
§ Mr. GalbraithWe have approved a simple form of warning light indication for use at certain types of level84W crossings, and the British Railways Board is developing the equipment. It will no doubt consider substituting these lights for bells that disturb people, but the decision will rest with the Board.
