§ 51. Mr. Bullard
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet completed his inquiries into the effects on the blackcurrant growing industry of the 15 per cent. Purchase Tax on blackcurrant syrup, particulars of which have been given to him by the hon. Member for King's Lynn.
§ 53. Mr. Bossom
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received with regard to the present tax on blackcurrants; and what action he is taking in the matter.
§ 59. Mr. Hilton
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that the 15 per cent. Purchase Tax on black- 216W currant juice is having a bad effect on the gathering of this year's blackcurrant crop; and if he will now remove this tax.
§ Mr. Boyd-Carpenter
We have received representations on this subject from a number of hon. Members, from the National Farmers' Union, and from individual blackcurrant growers. These are being considered carefully and urgently, but I am not yet in a position to make a statement.
