HC Deb 23 July 1963 vol 681 c143W
32. Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Post master-General what facilities for public observation and for entertainment are planned in the new London radio tower; and when the tower will be completed.

Mr. Bevins

There will be three public observation platforms at the Post Office Radio Tower at heights between 477 and548 feet. Above these, at a height of about 500–550 feet, there will be a restaurant making about three revolutions an hour and capable of seating more than 100 people. Members of the public will be transported in two lifts with speeds of 100 feet per minute. I expect that some of the equipment will be in service by the autumn of next year, and that the whole project will be completed by the end of 1965.
