§ Mr. Abseasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the dangerous condition of the Pontypool-Crumlin road; and of the concern of the miners and factory workers who daily use this road; and whether, in the light of the recommendations of the Industrial Association of Wales and Monmouthshire, which have been sent him, he will reconsider his refusal to treat this road as a special case justifying further allocation of funds to the county council.
§ Mr. LI. Williamsasked the Minister of Transport if, in view of the hazardous condition of the Pontypool-Crumlin road, he will make a special grant available to the Monmouthshire County Council.
§ Mr. MarplesI am aware of the conditions on this length of road and of the concern expressed by certain of its users. I regret that I cannot make special cases and must treat all road improvement proposals on their merits. But if the highway authority puts forward a proposal I will, of course, consider it carefully for grant.
