HC Deb 19 July 1963 vol 681 cc109-10W
Mr. Prentice

asked the Minister of Labour what steps are being taken by his Department, or by the Industrial Training Council, to estimate the number of training officers and other related specialists who will be required in every industry to deal with the necessary expansion of occupational training in the next few years; and what steps are being taken to stimulate the recruitment and training of these specialists.

Mr. Hare

The implementation of the proposals in the White Paper on Industrial Training (Cmnd. 1892) will certainly lead to an increased demand for training officers in industry. How best to meet this is under consideration by my Ministry and the Education Departments in conjunction with the Industrial Training Council and the British Association for Commercial and Industrial Education. A course for training officers run by the London County Council and sponsored by the British Association for Commercial and Industrial Education finishes today and further courses are projected for the autumn and next year.
