asked the Minister of Labour if he will give, for the period of 13 weeks ended in June, 1963, expenditure on unemployment benefit; and what was the corresponding figure for the same period 12 months earlier.

Approximately £18,965,000 was paid in unemployment benefit for the 13 weeks ended June, 1963. The amount paid for the comparable period in 1962 was £11,354,901.
